Local SEO tools that read one business profile

Badgerfly's Local SEO group is five local SEO tools for agencies and SEO teams that look after businesses with a storefront or a service area. All five read the same project profile, so you enter the business once and every check knows who it is.

Five modules, one business profile

The project profile holds the business details once: name, address, phone, category, service areas, competitors, and any former names or old addresses. Every local module matches against it instead of guessing from the domain.

Module The question it answers
Google Business Profile What should change on the Google listing, and in what order?
Citation Audit Do the name, address and phone match across the major directories?
Local Rank Heatmap Where across the service area does the business appear on Google Maps?
Local Competitors What do the businesses outranking it have that it lacks?
Market Sentiment What do customers in this market praise and complain about?

Google Business Profile: the listing, with the fixes in order

The Google listing is the biggest lever in local search, and this local SEO audit tool says what to change on it. The listing is scored out of 100 against what the best-ranking businesses for the project's searches do. The result recommends fixes in priority order, names the best primary category from the categories the top-ranking competitors use, and lists every check, so you can see why the score is what it is.

Reviews can be watched on a schedule as well, and a new review raises an alert.

Citation Audit: NAP consistency across the major directories

Citation Audit checks that the business name, address and phone number match across the major directories. Each directory comes back as one of three results:

  • Match: the same name, address and phone as the project profile
  • Mismatch: a listing with a different name, address or phone
  • Not found: no listing for the business on that directory

Former names and old addresses in the profile let a stale listing be recognised as the same business and reported as out of date, rather than left as a mismatch to work out by hand. Every audit is kept, so you can show local citations being cleaned up over time.

Local Rank Heatmap: where the business shows on the map

The heatmap searches Google Maps from every point of a grid across the service area and colours each point by the business's position there. Each scan reports the average position, a visibility score from 0 to 100 weighted by rank, how many points the business was found at, and the competitors that appear most. The full local rank tracker has its own page: See how Local Rank Heatmap works

Local Competitors: what the leaders have

For each keyword, Local Competitors lists the businesses outranking the project on the map and sets them beside the project's own numbers and the average: map position, map pack presence, reviews and rating, organic position, referring domains, link gaps, page speed and domain rank. The difference between the project and the leaders becomes the work list.

Market Sentiment: what customers say across the market

Market Sentiment samples reviews of the project and its competitors, from both the best and the worst, and writes a market brief: the biggest pain points and the most-loved qualities, each with how many businesses share it and real quotes. It shows what to fix and what to promote, in customers' own words.

Local SEO software for teams with many projects

Set each business up once, and the work runs in one local SEO platform: audit the listing, clean up the citations, scan the map, compare the competitors, then put the findings in a monthly report. Alerts across every project flag a new review or a new competitor in the top three.

What it costs

A schedule states what each repeat of an audit, scan or review check will use before it runs, and reopening a finished result is free. How tokens work

Questions

What are local SEO tools?

Tools for the work that decides how a business appears in local search: its Google listing, its directory citations, where it shows on the map, how it compares with nearby competitors and what its reviews say. Badgerfly has five, in one workspace.

Do I have to fill in the whole business profile first?

No. Citation Audit asks for the few fields it cannot run without, and every other module runs either way. The more of the profile you fill in, the sharper the matching gets.

Can I check a prospect's citations before the sales call?

Yes. Standalone Runs run a Citation Audit on any business without creating a project.
